This is the first issue of Darshana.

The name is a claim about method, not about arrival. Darshana is a way of seeing. The work here is to look at a question long enough that the easy sentence gives way to a truer one.

The byline — Notes from an Honest Jijgnasu — is a check on tone. A seeker who has already decided is not seeking. These notes will try to keep the question open without becoming vague.

What you will find

One piece most weeks. Sometimes a short column, sometimes a longer essay. Tags will behave like departments in an old paper: Notes, and whatever else the writing earns.

Images will be rare. When they appear they should work like a plate in a book — a thing you look at after you have already started reading.

How to read it

Start at the top of the issue and go to the end. There is a search desk and an archive. The RSS feed in the masthead is the cleanest way to be notified.

This first number is only a masthead and a promise. The next one should already be about something.
